Lifeguard Policies
I. Attendance
 -You must arrive at the time given on your schedule and to leave when your shift is           
       over. For morning shifts if you have not been relieved by the afternoon guard you
      must wait until the guard arrives or you are relieved by a supervisor.
 -You are responsible for your own substitutes. If you are unable to work your                     
       scheduled shift you must find your own sub. Your sub must be approved by the
      office prior to the start of your shift. If you're sub does not show up to cover your
      shift you will be held responsible.
 -During orientation you will be given a conflict calender to fill out prior to scheduling.
      You must indicate when you are not able to work on these calenders. We must
      receive the next month's calender three weeks before the first of the month.
 -You are required to participate in any in-service training
 -If you choose to quit you must turn in your resignation in writing to the office with two
      weeks notice.

II. Attire
 -While on duty you must be in A-Gleam's approved uniform.
 -You are required to protect yourself from the sun including but not limited the use of
      sun block, sun glasses, and hats (must be approved uniform).

III. Conduct
 -You are required to perform rescues and provide first aid and CPR whenever an
      a situation calls for it in the pool area, this is your job.
 -No visitors are permitted while on duty.
 -Facility phones will not be used for personal reasons, with the exception of arranging
      a ride home or finding a sub. Long distance calls or the use of 411 will be                     
       tolerated. Any phone bill forwarded to us with phone calls of this nature will be the
      responsibility of the guards on duty at that facility.
 -All personal call made on a cellular device must be kept to no more than 3 minutes
      and may only be made during your break.
 -No smoking, chewing tobacco, dipping, the use of alcohol, or drugs are allowed at           
       any time while you are on duty.
 -No eating while on the stand, eat on your break.
 -Drinking non-alcoholic drinks are allowed while on the stand. STAY HYDRATED!
 -The use of any facility managed by A-Gleam Pool Management is prohibited, any
      employee present while not on duty will be considered trespassing.
 -Facilities are to open and close at the scheduled time.
 -No books of any kind including but not limited to books, magazines, newspapers,
      catalogs, or textbooks, are allowed while on duty.
 -Radios, TV's, personal gaming devices, cassette players, CD or DVD players,
      computers, pagers are not permitted while on duty. Cell phones must be turned off.
      During your break you may check your messages or make a personal phone call.         
       You may use your phone for no more than 3 minutes during this time, and must be
      turned off and placed in either your backpack, bag, purse, or car at any other time.
 -Vandalism will not be tolerated. If the damaged is determined to be caused by the            
       employee(s) at a facility the employee(s) will be required to pay for any damages.        
       Including but not limited to holes in rescue tubes, damaged facility phones,                   
       improper use of umbrellas that results in damage.

IV. Lifeguarding
 -All community rules and regulations will be followed and enforced by the lifeguards
 -Stand rotation will be set, and only changed it all guards that shift agree to the                 
      change. If there is a change in the stand rotation the office must give approval.
 -All guards on duty are responsible for handling any situation that might arise. If
      another guard needs your assistance in handling a situation you must help them.
 -Even with just one person in the water a lifeguard must be on the stand at all times.         
       You may not sit on the edge of the pool or in a chair on the deck to watch the pool
      you must be on the stand. Any exceptions to this will only be authorized by the
      office.
 -Any incident must be written up on an incident report. Even minor incidents such as
      issuing a band-aid for a small scrape.
 -Daily Logs must be filled out daily.
 -The State of Texas requires 4 hours a month (1 hour a week) of in-service training.
      This training is mandatory and if not completed, you will not work.
